Cummings to: Austin, TX pt. 1

If you’re a fan of good food, good music, good weather and good times – Austin is calling (read: screaming) your name.

After visiting Austin in June of 2015, we always knew we wanted to go back.  In fact, most of our conversations revolved around “but do you think we would move to Austin?”.  When trying to come up with a mini-moon plan for a few days after our wedding, Austin seemed like the obvious choice.

Here’s our recommendations for making the most of your trip!

Part 1 – Where to Stay:

We had such a great experience with Airbnb on both of our trips to Austin.  If you haven’t used Airbnb before, use this code for a discount on your first trip!

Our first nights in Austin we stayed at The SoCo Cottage in the South Congress neighborhood of the city.  We LOVED the area (so much we stayed in the same neighborhood on our second trip!) and the cottage was a great and affordable option for a couple of nights.  Easily walkable to all of the fun on South Congress, I would highly recommend checking out Chris’ place.  He showed us around the city and made us feel incredibly welcomed.

The rest of our first trip, we stayed in a Vintage Airstream in East Austin.  A bit off the beaten path, but SO cool.  This airstream is settled on property owned by the sweetest hosts who rent the space in order to help bring more foster children to their house.  They have wonderful dogs and a pig who roam the property – we fell completely in love with Della, one of their dogs.  So affordable and a great space to save some money on your travels. I can’t say enough good things about this option!

When we returned for our mini-moon, we knew we would want to splurge just a little on our accommodations and I couldn’t have found a more amazing place than The Hideaway ..located in Travis Heights/South Congress everything about this place was a DREAM.  From the location, to the amenities, to the uh-may-zing salt water pool.  It was a perfect place to hang in our post-wedded bliss state of mind. We also stayed a night in The Hideaway Guest Suite and let me tell you…it was just as, if not better than, the Hideaway itself.  Definitely suggest staying at Bill’s place if you can!
